At Project Build-a-Future (PBF), we take immense pride in not only spearheading new construction projects but also reinvigorating existing properties. Our affordable rental program and buying options are creating homeownership opportunities for individuals who might otherwise find new constructions out of their reach. We also ensure all refurbished homes are upgraded with energy-efficient amenities for a cost-effective maintenance experience.
Our current venture, a two-bedroom, two-bath two-story property on Mill Street in Lake Charles, championing sustainability and historic preservation. Originally built in the 1930s, this home holds significant importance to the community as it was owned by Ralph C. Reynaud, a pioneer in Lake Charles’ education sector. To preserve the heritage of the neighborhood, we meticulously restored original features such as wood flooring and doors. Newly installed energy-efficient windows amplify natural light and aesthetic charm. We also enhanced the kitchen and bathrooms with water-resistant flooring and retained the house’s original wood wall.
PBF continues to be supported by external funding from grants, donors, and foundations. Our upcoming development includes constructing three new builds, expected to commence at the end of July. Through our projects, we, at Project Build-a-Future, are passionately contributing to sustainable housing and heritage preservation within our local community.
